Evaluation comments by the Jury:
This project looks precision engineered, with an emphasis on simplicity and honesty. The product does the talking, but there's also an element of maintenance and repair that's visible to consumers.Just as a camera captures moments, there are moments in this space that create feelings of wonder, melancholy and nostalgia. When you zoom in closer, you notice even more depth in the use of light, materials and textures.

About Sigma China's Showroom in Shanghai

From Aizu to Shanghai - spanning a distance of 1826 kilometers - we drew inspiration from the natural flow of Aizu's waters and Sigma's manufacturing philosophy of "Like water through a river." The resulting space, pure as water, is designed to embrace the diverse possibilities of the brand.

The Ways of Being

The materials used in the reception area are inspired by the texture of Aizu's natural landscapes such as mountains, soil, and water. The overall neutral color palette, combined with well-balanced lighting design, creates an elegant, relaxed, and harmonious atmosphere. We hope that guests who step into this space for the first time will feel warm and comfortable, and start the experience of the Showroom with a good mood, embodying Sigma's hospitality and brand culture in every detail.

The neat blue desktop and hanging drawers covering three walls are all set up to give more possibilities to the Repair Lab,reflecting a new design idea. Guests can watch the repair process of after-sales personnel at close range in the carefully built Repair Lab. Here, the craftsmen who originally lived behind the scenes came to the front.

The Ways of Crafting

As the "first step" in the art of photography, the products manufactured by Sigma play a role in building a connection between customers and photography. The customer experience area follows this concept and delivers the sensory experience created with ingenuity.

At the heart of the display area, a circular showcase--inspired by the geometry of lenses--is crafted from timeless lime stone. Paired with an expansive brown woven wool carpet that spans the floor, the design introduces softness into an earthy roughness, infusing rationality with a touch of sensibility.

Spanning one entire wall, the lens display pays homage to the design concept of the "Lens Cellar" at Sigma's Japan headquarters. It features custom triangular metal panels and over a hundred camera mounts, deliberately designed to mirror the structure and spirit of the original cellar.

The Ways of Seeing

The Multifunctional Gallery can flexibly serve a variety of events such as exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. With concern for its employees and every imaging enthusiast, and with thoughts on art and humanities, Sigma breaks through the aesthetic boundaries of optical equipment through exhibitions. Publications, documentaries and other forms.
